Rooted in Purpose and Service
The origins of Providence Life Services trace back to the 1950s, when a group of churches in the Chicago suburbs recognized a growing need among their aging members. At that time, nursing homes were largely focused on medical efficiency, offering little sense of life, fulfillment or connection.
Guided by faith and a commitment to serve, these churches came together to create a different model of care. By 1960, Providence Life Services completed the first Christian nursing home in the area. From the outset, it was filled to capacity, reflecting a clear desire for an approach centered on dignity and compassion, creating a strong sense of purpose.
This foundation continues to shape Providence Life Services today, grounding the organization in service, responsibility and care for the whole person.
